Marcelo and Tiago from Union talk collaboration between compositing and FX on For All Mankind
Marcelo Sousa, FX TD and Tiago Faria, Senior/Lead Compositor at Union took part in the Escape Studios online virtual series this year with a talk about the relationship between FX and compositing during their work on For All Mankind for Apple TV+.
Challenged with launching a Sea Dragon rocket from underneath the ocean required numerous simulations and a very collaborative relationship between compositing and FX bouncing ideas off each other to solve problems and overcome technical obstacles.
In their talk, they demonstrate how working as a close-knit team ensured they could focus on pushing the shot creatively while limiting the technical hurdles.
